History

Government Degree College, Bhikiyasain (Almora) was established on 2 August 2006, as a result of the long cherished desire of local public and public representatives for its opening. Initially, the college was started and conducted in the premises of Government Inter College, Bhikiyasain and was continued to be there till January 2018. It was only due to the  sincere efforts of Dr. Sangeeta Gupta, Principal and her team, the college was shifted to its own building on 1^st February 2018. The College is situated on Basot Road, Bhikiyasain (Almora).

Initially, the College was started with Commerce Classes at Graduate Level in 2006-07. In 2008-09, Arts Faculty was started with seven subjects-

• English
• Hindi
• History
• Economics
• Geography
• Sociology
• Political Science                                                                                                                                                 

In present Session 2019-20, B.Sc. (ZBC) Course is introduced in the College.  

Since 2017-18 Session, College has been the study centre of Uttarakhand Open University for U.G. Courses. In present session 2019-20, UOU has permitted us  to take admissions in various Post Graduate  and Vocational Courses. It would prove to be a great benefit for the local population. UOU has  declared College study centre as Examination Centre also. It’s a great achievement of the College
